Hang Ten for Drifters

Colorado Springs Food Guy went to Drifter’s Hamburgers located at 4455 Mark Dabling Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. Kahili was our server and she was awesome, attentive and knowledgeable. Drifter’s Hamburgers resembles the In and Out Hamburger chain in the California-style burger. I sampled the regular Cheeseburger and the Double Cheeseburger. The Big Island burger was also a hit with a colossal 4 patties and extra cheese. Both restaurants use meat that is fresh and all natural, but I think Drifter’s burger patties are way juicer. In terms of French Fries, Drifter’s tastes better too. However, I think the House sauce should be a little thicker or maybe I should have asked for extra since it was also very tasty. The ambiance is average, but is consistent with the California beach house theme. The chicken sandwich was also sampled and although it was well seasoned, it had a little too much mayo. Don't forget to ask for the grilled onions because it really makes the burgers unforgettable. The nice surprise of the evening was the Boysenberry milkshake. On a hot summer day, it was just the happy ending to a great meal. When you go to Drifter’s, tell them the Colorado Springs Food Guy sent you. Visit my website at www.ColoradoSpringsFoodGuy.com

Speak PigLatin for great food

Colorado Springs Food Guy went to the PigLatin food truck at the Curbside Cuisine Downtown located at 225 N Nevada Ave., at the corner of Nevada Avenue and Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs. They are only open weekdays for lunch between 11am-2pm. I tried the Piggy Grilled Cheese and it was delicious. It melts in your mouth. The Piglatin Plate was also sampled. Although the rice and beans were a little bland for my taste, the marinated pork and sweet plantains were fantastic. However, the masterpiece was the Stacked Arepa. The marinated pulled pork was succulent, the corn tortilla was just the right texture to carry the pork and the mozzarella cheese however it was the sweet plantains that caused a flavor explosion. To top it off, the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. In the quest for good food, stop at the PigLatin food truck the next time you are downtown for lunch.

They specialize in authentic Mexican Sopes but also offer tacos, flautas, and burritos. The Colorado Springs Food Guy went there for some lunch recently and found a slice of food heaven. The Sopes were so appetizing and filling. The avocado on top was just the finishing touch to this delicious treat. The beef was well seasoned and the corn tortillas were fried to perfection. All the ingredients were fresh and made to order. I can’t forget the awesome friendly staff at Maco’s Tacos. They were very welcoming. Black Bear Diner, A great place to take your family to (Colorado Springs)

A great place to take your family to. I enjoy the food and the staff was right there getting drinks and bread for the table. I had the fried chicken dinner with waffle. The chicken was a little small in size for me but the taste was very good. The chicken was not overcook and it was tender in juice. The waffle was golden brown it was better than the waffle at The Waffle House. Take it from Colorado Springs Food Guy Black Bear Diner is place to bring the family.

Get Smash at Smashbuger (Colorado Springs)

Hello,

It’s the Colorado Springs Food Guy with another tasty morsel. I visited Smashburger located at 5320 N Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs CO 80918 in University Village and boy oh boy was it a treat. I spoke with the assistant manager and the general manager and they were quite friendly as was the rest the of the staff. The food was served fast and hot—just how I like. I had the Colorado Burger with Fried Green chilies. One word—amazing! The green chilies were fried so lightly and they tasted so good. Their Smashfries are also very light yet crispy and well seasoned with rosemary & garlic. I had my burger on a Spicy chipotle bun which was also very flavorful. The Spicy Jalapeno Baja burger and the Cobb Salad are also very tasty. But it is actually the milk shakes that are the show stoppers. I had the Salted Carmel flavor and it was a taste explosion. The salty with the sweet give the shake a kick. Hand-spun perfectly, they are never too runny or too thick. The restaurant was clean and the décor was contemporary but not overwhelming. Smashburger makes for a great time for lunch or dinner.

The Colorado Springs Food Guy craved to do something different tonight

The Colorado Springs Food Guy craved to do something different tonight so I went out to Crave Real Burgers located at 7465 Academy Blvd N, Colorado Springs, CO 80920. The burgers are massive, filling and oh so tasty. I had the Sin City burger topped with fried sharp cheddar cheese. It is so decadent. I wish they added more candied bacon on it. The Cubano was topped with jalapenos, fried pork, chorizo, hot dog, egg and bacon was also sampled and it did not disappoint. However, the mother of all burgers was the Luther with glazed donuts as the actual bun. It was a real showstopper. Don’t forget the French fries -- crispy, tasty, and hot. Our waiter David was friendly and helpful we also gave away a free meal to Juan de la Cruz because the Colorado Springs Food Guy loves to share great food. When I find food that excites me, I usually buy a meal for someone else in an effort to pay it forward because everyone should enjoy good food. So stop counting calories and spend your diet cheat day at Crave Real Burgers for a burger experience you will not forget!
