Chef Wins You Over to the Lighter Side

Colorado Springs Food Guy recently visited Los Angeles to film The Quest for Good Food and attended a private tasting with Chef Vanderlyn Williams. Her cuisine focuses on the benefits of healthy eating.  Vanderlyn offered a sampling of her most popular salads. I tried the Grilled Chicken Salad with Kale, Salmon Salad, Fish Salad, and the Crab Mary Salad. Chef Vanderlyn started the evening with a fabulous appetizer, Baked Avocado. This was crispy on the outside and the avocado was still soft on the inside—simply delicious. I am a hearty, comfort food eater but the salads were filling and tasty. The chicken, salmon, and fish were all grilled to perfection. These salads were wonderful. However, the Crab Mary Salad was my absolute favorite. Named after Vanderlyn’s mother, this delightful salad was made with real crabmeat and none of that imitation stuff. The crabmeat was tender and succulent. The ingredients used for all the salads were so fresh and of the highest quality. Chef Vanderlyn has enjoyed cooking since she was a child and this love for cooking translates to her food.
